U.S. TRAVELS FOR RICK & WENDY WALLEIGH
We have traveled from one U.S. coast to another since before our kids were born as well as places in between.  The 4 of us have been hiking and fishing
in Yosemite, Yellowstone, Tetons and Glacier National  Parks.  Our family has skied in Aspen, Jackson Hole, Park City, Telluride, Sun Valley,
Steamboat Springs, Taos, Vail, and of course Lake Tahoe in the California Sierra (Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Kirkwood, Squaw Valley, etc.).
Please enjoy some recent U.S. journey photos as well as links below to other trip web-pages--including Rick's heli-skiing in Alaska!

In September 2011 Rick took a 50-milr backpacking trip into the grandeur of Matterhorn Canyon  in the California Sierras.

May 2011 Spring Falls & Trails in Yosemite  (next four rows below)

(Above Far L) Wendy pauses her contemplation of Yosemite Valley ("Tunnel View"), her favorite spot in the world, with Bridalveil Falls in the distance.
(Above L) Bridalveil Falls, to the left of Leaning Tower dome,  is so full that we felt its spray 1/4 mile away. (Above C) Ribbon Falls in full flow now,
usually disappears by July. (Above R) Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls will usually slow to a trickle in summer, but (Above Far R) rampages now.

(Above Far L) Mirror Lake, which often is Mirror Meadow in summer, was quite full from (Above L) the Merced River which feeds it.
(Above C to R) Past Mirror Lake along Snow Creek Trail we saw gorgeous views of Tenaya Canyon, so Wendy stopped to enjoy them.

Our challenging hike this trip was walking the 9.6 mile Panorama Trail down from Glacier Point.
We took a "hiker's bus" to the Point, at a 4,000+ foot rise above the Valley floor, then started
our descent.  (Above Far L) One of our 1st sights was a blond-colored Calif. Black Bear about 100 yds.
below our trail.  The reason we took this hike was for the magnificent views of Yosemite Valley, such as
(Above L & C) Nevada and Vernal Falls from above, (Above R) Half Dome with a cloud wig, (Above Far R)
Ilillouete Falls, and eventually (L) the top of Nevada Falls, and (R) its profile. 9.6 miles "all downhill" didn't
sound like too much before we started, but by the end, my thighs were sore from the unexpected uphill
portions, my knees were sore from "braking", and my body was jelly.  But I would do it again!!!
